About
Mónica López is European Doctor of Psychology by the University of Oviedo (Spain). In 2004 she joined the Child and Family Research Group (www.gifi.es) where she has worked in different projects such us the evaluation of residential care programmes, juvenile justice measures, needs assessment of unaccompanied asylum seeking children or the impact of stress and burnout among child care workers. Since 2006 her main research topic is family foster care. She has developed the first nationwide evaluation of foster care in Spain, a project funded by the Spanish Ministry of Work and Social Affairs.
Mónica participates actively in scientific networks such us the Foster Care Research Network (University of Siegen), the INTRAC-Corit about transition to adulthood from public care (University of Loughborough and York), the Network In the best interest of the child (University of Comillas) and the APFEL Group for the promotion of foster care at a European level.
At the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen she is she is currently working on an international project about decision making processes in child welfare.
